$7,000 Goal

The mission for the Afghan Community of Erie is to develop the livelihood of the Afghans in Erie, PA. The Community Center serves approximately 200 families with a variety of programs and services. Every weekend, Afghans receive assistance in regard to legal advice, interpretation services and employment placement. The Afghan Community has also held programs in digital literacy training, English classes and women's health classes. The Afghan Community prides itself in being the epicenter for cultural gatherings, holiday gatherings, engagement parties and weddings. In the future, we hope to bring additional programs to continue to help Afghans acclimate to their life in the United States. Beginning in 2027, many Afghans will begin their eligibility to apply for citizenship. The funds raised for Erie Gives Day 2026 will be used to hold citizenship classes for all Afghans. The citizenship classes will teach civic knowledge along will English reading, writing, and speaking skills. Afghans have established employment, purchased homes and have contributed to the community at large. They look forward to taking the next step to earning citizenship. We thank you for your donation and your support of the Afghan Community of Erie, PA.
