Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Erie

Every day, Catholic Charities receives calls from people looking for help, hope, and healing.

 In 2024, we were able to say yes to more than 600 people in need of emergency assistance. 

In 2025, that number grew to more than 1,000. 

So far, in 2026, we've assisted over 1,100 and it's only August.

  Right now, our emergency assistance program is on pause as we hold funds for the harsher winter months.

Because every "yes" now is a potential "no" later if more funding does not come in. 

 But the calls for help haven't stopped, and too often, we are unable to provide the immediate assistance people are seeking.

Catholic Charities is an organization that serves the needs of thousands of people throughout the 13-county diocese of Erie without regard to religion, race, or national origin. With seven agencies currently in our network, we provide meals and shelter for the homeless; counseling and case management services; emergency relief for families in need of housing, utility assistance, or food. We have soup kitchens and food pantries, serving the poorest among us. 

Catholic Charities relies on funds raised throughout the year to support these agencies who may not have the capacity to fundraise on their own or may operate in communities that lack strong philanthropic resources. 

Yearly, we provide support to more than 26,000 individuals across thirteen counties in Northwestern PA.
