Erie Gay News

Erie Gay News provides educational and news services to the Greater Erie Region's LGBTQIA+ Community through events along with the EGN website and print publication. The EGN has been a resource of the happenings around Erie Pennsylvania. This resource has served the lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer, intersex, ace and beyond broader community.

Erie Gay News began as a print publication and soon after developed a web space presence over thirty years ago. Our involvement in various events and organizations has provided insights into the needs of others. Reporting on events has been a strong baseline for the EGN across the decades. The EGN Community website represents our non profit work that gives us the ability to sustain our efforts and grow them into the future. Sponsoring activities and coordinating them increases our ability to improve the lives of our chosen family.

Since 1992 Erie Gay News has documented the culture, events, and stories of LGBTQIA+ life in the Northwest Pennsylvania region. Now we’re expanding our reach with more involvement. Our efforts over these three decades of chronicling events and activities helped us inform others of what is happening, what took place, and how to make connect with friends and connecting with yet-to-be friends. Establishing our non-profit allows us to plan for the future while we also recognize being a part of the broader community we call family. Part of being family is about our social responsibility to lift up others in need.

This year we coordinated 'give back' events where various local entities and non-profits in our Q+ Community came together, helping improve the lives of our siblings, cousins, and beyond. Partnerships helped us create the January Boots and Coats Drive, the May Second Harvest Food Drive, June's Persad Center Presentation on LGBTQ+ and Law Enforcement, and this month's Back to School Donation Drive. These events are part of our broader goal to collaborate across the LGBTQIA+ regional family in addition to the monthly EGN issues/articles.

Did you know that... each month, Erie Gay News is provided for free to the public and 100% volunteer based? And each issue costs roughly $1900 to produce, print, ship, and deliver to the tri-state region. EGN has benefited from advertising for its decades of providing local journalism to cover the LGBTQIA+ Community in both the print issues and our website.

In 2025, member of the EGN Editorial Board began making plans for a legacy project to help begin planning for the future of Erie Gay News beyond the next few issues. We incorporated as a non-profit, selected officers, filed and received 501c3 status with the IRS, and joined the NonProfit Partnership in early 2026.

Joining Erie Gives Day 2026 is part of our next phase to assure we continue bringing a historical perspective and increase collaborations across the Northwest PA region's Q+ Community.

We appreciate your decision to support us this year. Your donation will be used for operational costs in the months and years to come. Thank you for believing in us and strengthening our efforts in 34 years of Erie Gay News!
