Eries Black Wall Street

Building More Than Buildings.

At Erie's Black Wall Street, we believe lasting change isn't built through charity. It's built through ownership, opportunity, investment, and people who believe every community deserves the chance to thrive.

That's why we're Building More Than Buildings.

We're building entrepreneurs.

We're building homeowners.

We're building leaders.

We're building neighborhoods.

We're building generational wealth.

We're building the future of Erie.

Erie's Black Wall Street was founded to address the racial wealth gap by expanding access to entrepreneurship, homeownership, financial empowerment, and economic opportunity for Black residents. Today, that mission continues while creating stronger neighborhoods, businesses, and opportunities that benefit our entire community. When one family builds wealth, one entrepreneur succeeds, or one neighborhood grows stronger, Erie grows stronger.

Since launching our Pathway to Homeownership program in 2021, we've helped increase Black homeownership in Erie from 1.9% to 7.79%. Through homebuyer education, financial coaching, credit-building strategies, and down payment assistance, families who once believed homeownership was beyond their reach are now building equity, stability, and generational wealth that will impact their children and grandchildren for years to come.

Through New Wall Street Ventures, we've supported more than 70 minority entrepreneurs and nonprofit founders in launching, strengthening, or growing their organizations. From childcare centers and restaurants to construction companies, healthcare providers, creative businesses, consulting firms, neighborhood nonprofits, and community-serving organizations, we're helping transform ideas into sustainable enterprises that create jobs, strengthen our local economy, and expand opportunity throughout our region.

But we're not stopping there.

Erie's Black Wall Street is investing in the long-term future of our city through strategic community development. By restoring historic commercial properties and creating spaces where entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, artists, creators, and community partners can thrive, we're helping transform Parade Street into a corridor of opportunity once again.

At the heart of that vision is The Onyx Exchange—a first-of-its-kind economic development hub that will bring together entrepreneurship, workforce development, financial empowerment, youth leadership, creative innovation, and community collaboration under one roof. Beyond The Onyx Exchange, we're investing in additional properties that create opportunities for independent entrepreneurs and organizations to establish businesses, create jobs, and contribute to a stronger, more vibrant neighborhood. This approach strengthens both our community and the long-term sustainability of our mission.

This is about much more than restoring historic buildings.

It's about creating an ecosystem where a young person can discover their potential, an aspiring entrepreneur can launch a business, a family can prepare to purchase its first home, and local businesses can become anchors of thriving neighborhoods.

When you support Erie's Black Wall Street, you're not funding a single program.

You're investing in a comprehensive strategy for economic mobility and community transformation.

You're helping entrepreneurs turn ideas into thriving businesses.

You're helping families achieve the dream of homeownership.

You're helping young people develop the confidence, skills, and leadership to shape the future.

You're helping preserve history while creating new opportunities for generations to come.

You're helping build a stronger, more resilient Erie where opportunity is expanded, ownership is encouraged, and prosperity is shared.

Whether your gift is $25 or $2,500, every investment helps create opportunities that extend far beyond today. It helps build stronger families, stronger businesses, stronger neighborhoods, and a stronger local economy.

Imagine an Erie where more businesses are locally owned.

Where more families build generational wealth through homeownership.

Where historic commercial corridors are once again filled with thriving businesses, culture, creativity, and community.

Where every young person can see a future filled with possibility.

That future won't happen by accident.

It will happen because people choose to build it.

This Erie Gives Day, we invite you to do more than make a donation.

Help build opportunity.

Help build ownership.

Help build generational wealth.

Help build the future of Erie.

Because we're Building More Than Buildings.

We're Building Opportunity.
