The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a non-profit, non-political, volunteer women's service organization. Founded in 1890, with headquarters in Washington, D.C.. 
DAR is dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American History, and securing America's future through better education. Members volunteer many hours of service within our communities. Support active military personnel and assist veteran patients. Scholarships are awarded each year. Support is also provided to the school for underserved children. We participate in many programs, such as Tunnel to Towers and Quilts of Valor. DAR is also a Genealogical Society. DAR is also involved in schools, promoting and supporting our future generation through education and through a variety of scholarships.
Military Support & Service for Veterans: DAR members are passionate about supporting our active-duty military and veterans, and they do so in a variety of ways.

Volunteer Projects: The Service to America initiative encourages members to become involved in community service to discover the rewards of volunteerism, to demonstrate the positive volunteer opportunities associated with DAR members to others, and to help make their local communities better, friendlier places. DAR members are giving back to their communities in appreciation for the nation they love! These are just a few of what DAR does.
The Triangle Chapter, NSDAR, was organized on October 13, 1916, with 17 organizing members and Organizing Regent Cora Knapp Rogers Pierce in North East, Erie County, Pennsylvania. Our members volunteer in many ways, from preserving cemeteries and education to cleaning grave stones.
2026/2028 Restoration of Phillips Cemetery -Phillips Cemetery, North East, PA 20 & Hertzel Rd, North East, PA 16428
The Triangle Chapter, NSDAR's next project. The Chapter is now planning to restore the Phillips Cemetery, an old Indian Mound with two (2) Revolutionary War Soldiers buried on top of it. Pictures show that one is leaning and the other is off its foundation, lying on the ground. There are several others that are broken or lying on the ground as well. The chapter will begin removing dead and/or fallen trees to prepare for the cemetery's cleaning. Resetting of the gravestones. The blue grave markers shown are the ones placed by the Triangle Chapter, NSDAR, last summer of 2025.
Resetting a gravestone is the process of lifting, leveling, and securing a monument that has sunk, tilted, or become detached from its foundation. Proper resetting prevents long-term damage such as cracking or falling and typically costs between $140 and $250+, depending on the stone's size.
2023/2026 We honored our Revolutionary War soldiers by placing grave markers on their graves and placing plaques at the cemeteries with all names and their locations. This was made possible by grants with the assistance of: Daughters of the American Revolution ( DAR), Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority (ECGRA), Hirtzel Memorial Foundation (HMF), and North East Community Foundation (NECF). The Triangle Chapter, NSDAR, is deeply grateful for this opportunity to have this help and to complete this project. This summer, 2026, our final plaque in remembrance of our Revolutionary War soldiers was installed on June 27th, 2026, in Heard Memorial Park, Rose Garden, on 40 N. Lake Street (across from Gibson Park) in North East, PA. 
The chapter is planning a Dedication Ceremony to be held at Heard Memorial Park on Sunday, October 4th, 2026, at 3:00 P.M. This Event is open to the public.
Wreaths Across America, the chapter honors all members of the military by laying wreaths on all military graves in North East Cemetery each December. This was also made possible by volunteers on that day, including children and adults who helped lay more than 600 wreaths.
We help provide services to our military by sending boxes of treats to those serving abroad or aboard ships. We are participating in the Quilt of Valor program.
Good Citizen Awards and the JROTC Program. North East High School students have the opportunity to be awarded the Good Citizen Award each year. Seneca High School Students who participate in the JROTC Program have the opportunity to receive an award.
"Warriors to Washington," an organization in Northeast Pennsylvania that takes veterans to Washington, D.C., for a nice, relaxing trip. The Triangle Chapter sponsored a veteran for this once-in-a-lifetime trip.
Soldiers and Sailors Home - items for the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwestern Pennsylvania - the chapter has participated in distributing food to those in need. And also at the main Warehouse, we volunteer to pack and prepare items.
USO - We participate in providing support to active-duty U.S. military before, during, and after deployment.
