Together, We Build Brighter Futures
Every day at St. Martin Center, we see lives being changed—because of people like YOU. Your kindness, your belief in second chances, and your desire to lift others up make our work possible. Erie is stronger when families have what they need to succeed, and when children are given the chance to dream big and grow in safe, supportive spaces.
Because of donors like you:
$364K allocated to help 29 families keep their homes and 196 families avoided eviction
382,076 pounds of food distributed with 17,929 persons served among 2,883 households
110 volunteers donated over 3700 hours
272 children enrolled in our Early Learning Center
(All figures represent impact during Fiscal Year 2023–2024)
At St. Martin Center, we believe every family deserves a real shot at stability, success, and hope for the future. Whether it's through financial counseling, housing support, early childhood education, or emergency assistance, your generosity helps people not just survive—but thrive.
While children grow, so do their families. Our team works hand in hand with adults to build financial stability through classes, coaching, and personalized support.
“This class was useful even though I am 62 years old. There are still new things to learn! Our whole family needs to change their mindset to save more.” - Mary Beth K., (Budgeting for Success class)
From budgeting workshops to down payment assistance, we're helping people move from uncertainty to ownership - both financially and emotionally.
"As a first time homebuyer, there are many expenses associated with the process that can be overwhelming! This grant will help offset those costs. I am truly grateful for the resources St. Martin offers from credit counseling to the pre-purchase workshop." - Shiotta B. (received first time home buyers assistance)
One of the most powerful examples of that impact is our Early Learning Center. More than just a daycare, it’s a nurturing, high-quality environment where children—no matter their family’s income—are safe, loved, and learning every day.
"Thank you for being phenomenal teachers and allowing me to trust you all with my babies. It means the world to me!" — Alize H. Early Learning Center Parent
When families trust us with their children, we make sure every moment matters—through experienced teachers, a strong curriculum, nutritious meals, and daily care that supports the whole child.
❤️ We couldn’t do this great work without you. ❤️
We believe it's important to assist with one's most basic needs before they can begin to focus on long-term plans. We provide services to help crisis situations, plus programs to help people get on their feet and on the path to self-sufficiency.
Our emergency programs help those facing an unexpected financial crisis such as a job loss or cut in hours, medical bill, or other financial need which has made it difficult to make ends meet. To help alleviate their burden, we provide emergency rent and utility assistance; life-sustaining prescription assistance; in-house food pantry; clothing and household goods assistance; PA WORKWEAR Program, providing clothing for men for interviews and jobs; and referrals to other agencies as needed.
Our long-term programs include pre-purchase home buying education; foreclosure prevention and loss mitigation; and credit and budget counseling and education.
We also provide other programs including the Bishop's Breakfast Program, which provides a hot breakfast to homeless and near homeless men, women and children 5 days a week; and St. Martin Early Learning Center, which is a state-of-the-art facility located on East 18th and State Streets (a few blocks from the main building) that provides quality education and care for children ages 6 weeks through 13 years.
