ACLU of Pennsylvania

Since 1951, the ACLU of Pennsylvania has been an autonomous affiliate of the ACLU, existing at the forefront of safeguarding civil liberties and advancing equity for all Pennsylvanians. In the face of an administration whose goal is to scare us into silence, we must speak loudly, deploy the right tactics, and apply public pressure. That is what the ACLU is built for - and what we’re doing with your support. 

This year, in Erie City and five other select school districts, the ACLU of Pennsylvania held its 6th summit on school policing. Pennsylvania has long had some of the highest student arrest rates in the country, especially for Black students with disabilities. These summits are gatherings of school district leaders (senior administrators and board members) to discuss ways to reduce the use of police in school disciplinary matters.

In Erie and across Pennsylvania, ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have been unleashing violence and stoking fear in our communities - pulling people from their homes and breaking down doors without warrants. In support of and in collaboration our partners, ACLU-PA mobilized supporters across the state to take action at every Senator Fetterman office on January 27 to raise awareness and make it clear the community members expected Senator Fetterman to block cloture and say no to the DHS funding bill to prevent ICE and CBP from being bankrolled to terrorize communities.
