The Center for Hearing & Deaf Services, Inc (HDS) recognized the needs of the Deaf in NWPA and answered the call by establishing the HDS-Erie office in 2021.
Our office provides:
- Vital sign language interpreting services to Erie County and the surrounding counties.
- A life skills day program for individuals who are deaf and intellectually disabled.
- We offer community sign language classes, and community events for the Deaf.
- Resources to businesses, service providers, and the community (deaf/hearing)
We are the only service provider for the Deaf in all of Northwest Pennsylvania!
Your dollars have a direct impact!
$50-provides one community outing for our life skills program to promote community inclusion
$100-provides sign language class to a community member
$500-provides social opportunities for the deaf community

Our mission is to provide a diverse and affordable program of quality diagnostic, rehabilitative and supportive services to meet the unique challenges of children and adults who are deaf or hard of hearing, or have other communication needs, and to serve as an information and referral source for these populations and the general public.
