ECED 

Edinboro Community and Economic Development (ECED) is a charitable non-profit founded by area business owners and community leaders to encourage continued growth and development in the Edinboro community. Edinboro is a welcoming community for residents, students, and visitors where new and existing businesses can thrive. Home to Edinboro Lake, outdoor recreational opportunities, a vibrant downtown, and anchor institutions like PennWest Edinboro, Edinboro, PA is a destination for all seasons that exudes "small town America" charm!

ECED provides support to Boro with the Works annual Independence Day fireworks celebration, VisitEdinboroPA.com, Edinboro Community Gift Certificate Program, facade improvement grants, downtown beautification projects, Edinboro's Four Seasons placemaking playbook, and so much more! 

Downtown Beautification 

One of the many projects undertaken by the ECED has been the installation of flowerpots pots on the light poles throughout downtown Edinboro. Since its inception, this project has been made possible entirely through the generous support of our community and local businesses—from the initial purchase of the flowerpots to the annual costs of flowers and maintenance.

These flowerpots pots are unique because they feature built-in wicking reservoirs that significantly reduce the need for daily watering compared to traditional hanging baskets. However, they still require watering approximately twice each week to remain healthy and vibrant throughout the growing season. To accomplish this, a dedicated team of community volunteers donates their time to water all 30 flowerpots pots on a rotating schedule. Currently, we rely on a small utility trailer, generously loaned by a local business for the season, to transport the water tank and pumping equipment needed for this work.

Keep Edinboro Blooming  

To ensure the long-term success and sustainability of this project, ECED is seeking donations to purchase our own utility trailer and equip it with the necessary watering system for use by our volunteers. Our goal is to raise approximately $3,500. Your contribution on Erie Gives Day will help us purchase this needed equipment and keep Edinboro blooming!
