Our Mission:
To improve the quality of life for mature adults, while fostering a positive image of aging. We are dedicated to enriching the lives of older adults by fostering connection, advocacy, education, and collaboration among aging service professionals and organizations. ICA is a voluntary, not-for-profit coalition of individuals, agencies and businesses from the public and private sectors who provide services to seniors in Erie County. Through community partnerships, educational programs, outreach initiatives, and support for older adults and caregivers, ICA works to ensure seniors in our region are respected, supported, and empowered to age with dignity.
Why Your Donation Matters:
Every dollar raised during Erie Gives directly supports programs and initiatives that strengthen the aging community in Erie County.
What We Do for Seniors in Erie County:
The Independent Council on Aging works year-round to create meaningful opportunities, resources, and connections for older adults and those who serve them.
Through community events, outreach initiatives, educational programming, and collaborative partnerships, ICA helps seniors remain informed, engaged, supported, and connected.
Community Events & Senior Engagement
ICA hosts and supports events throughout the year that bring seniors and community members together for education, wellness, entertainment, appreciation, and social connection. These programs help reduce isolation while promoting healthy and active aging.
Guide to Services Resource Book
One of ICA’s most valuable resources is our annual Guide to Services book — a trusted directory that helps older adults, caregivers, and families navigate available resources throughout Erie County.
The guide connects seniors with:
-Healthcare resources
-Housing and senior living options
-Home care and supportive services
-Transportation resources
-Financial and legal assistance
-Veteran services
-Community programs and social opportunities
-Wellness and caregiving support
For many families, the Guide to Services becomes an essential tool during times of transition, caregiving decisions, and aging-related challenges.
Advocacy & Collaboration
ICA also serves as a collaborative network for aging service professionals and organizations, helping strengthen communication, education, and partnerships across Erie County to better serve older adults.
Your generosity helps ICA:

-Support programs that reduce isolation among older adults
-Advocate for aging-related issues affecting local seniors and caregivers
