Children's Advocacy Center of Erie County, Inc.
The Children’s Advocacy Center of Erie County, Inc. (CAC) is dedicated to the delivery of an immediate, effective, coordinated, community response to allegations of child abuse and to child abuse prevention. Our services will promote the safety and well-being of children while reducing trauma in a child-friendly environment.
Programs and Services
Forensic Services: The CAC provides a child-friendly location and specially trained staff to interview children in a non-traumatic manner who may be victims of child abuse and are referred by police or children's' services. The interview is recorded to minimize the number of times the child must recount and thus relive the abuse. A multidisciplinary team reviews each case.
Referral Services: Every child/family seen is referred to specialized medical, mental health and crime victims' services available in Erie County.
Prevention Services: The ACT: Raising Safe Kids program, an evidence based parenting program designed to reduce violence in the homes of families with children under ten and promote healthy family life.
