Mission

Career Street is a network designed to connect local employers and educators. It is a local program designed specifically for the needs of Erie area students and Erie area employers creating opportunities for students to have a variety of quality career exploration experiences throughout the year. This network provides a quick and easy connection for educators seeking career exploration experiences for their students, as well as opportunities for local employers to make connections with their future workforce. The goals are for students to be well educated and prepared to make informed decisions about their careers, as well as to have a prepared workforce that meets the needs of Erie employers and the Erie community.

Programs and Services

Career Street provides connections for career exploration throughout the Erie community. Worksite tours, job shadows, speakers in the classroom, employer participants in career fairs, etc, are all types of career exploration experiences offered by Career Street throughout the entire school year. Career Street reimburses the schools for such expenses as field trips, entrance fees, career exploration programs, and other expenses related to career exploration. Each year Career Street makes experiences such as trips to the Tom Ridge Environmental Center, the Youth Civic Engagement Symposium, and Manufacturing Day possible for thousands of Erie area students.

Career Street also sponsors the Erie Times-News Newspapers In Education program, which features a weekend article in the Times focused on a local career/employer/employee in our area.

Other services are Educator in the Workplace program, where educators tour local businesses and learn about the variety of careers, as well as qualifications for these careers. This assists the educators in developing relationships with local employers for future experiences for their students, and local employers are able to make connections and provide input that assists in further development of their future workforce.

Career Street focuses on being a part of all community aspects that enhance the program for career exploration and workforce development.
