Inner-City Neighborhood Art House
Mission
The Neighborhood Art House provides classes in the visual, performing and literary arts and in environmental action to at-risk children in Erie.
This program, offered in a safe, nourishing and caring environment, is at no cost to the children who attend after-school and/or summer classes. A ministry of the Benedictine Sisters of Erie, the mission of the Neighborhood Art House is to enable children to experience beauty, grow in positive self-expression and self-discipline, and develop into full and productive human beings.
Programs and Services
The Inner-City Neighborhood Art House offers a free after-school program for inner-city children in Erie, PA. The program provides a wide variety of arts education classes for children ages 7-14. There are different after-school program options during the fall and winter-spring. Students may also request tutoring and/or Hooked on Books assisted by adult volunteers.
The Neighborhood Art House also has a free day program during the summer from late June to mid-July. The summer program offers five weeks of summer programming for children/youth 7-18 years of age (morning session), and 10-18 years of age (afternoon session). Each week runs independently. Children can also sign up for the Hooked on Books Program where an adult reads to a child.
