Many of our neighbors and friends face hidden barriers to receiving basic medical attention—challenges that most of us don’t realize exist right here in Erie County. Transportation limits and the ability to pay are two major healthcare barriers in our community.
Thankfully, the Multi-Cultural Health Evaluation Delivery System (MHEDS) can address them both with your help.
The core MHEDS mission is to provide high-quality, culturally competent community healthcare to anyone who needs it, regardless of insurance status or financial standing. This ongoing undertaking successfully removes one major hurdle for families in Northwest Pennsylvania.
But then, what if getting to a local doctor wasn’t just difficult—it was completely impossible?
That is the daily reality for too many families living across our region. At MHEDS, we firmly believe no one should be left behind simply because local clinics are out of reach. That’s why we are seeking funding for a state-of-the-art mobile medical unit designed to bring primary care, preventative screenings, and vital health education directly to those who need it most.

This community campaign isn’t just about funding a vehicle; it’s about real people. It is the story of showing up for underserved families who have been overlooked for too long—including those living in rural communities, where the nearest doctor may be miles away and entirely out of reach and those within the city limits who don’t have the ability or means to get to a doctor..
This initiative is also a promise to bring life-saving medical care directly to local main streets, front porches, rural farmhouses, and forgotten corners of our region. It is a vow to reach the patients who simply cannot reach us.
