Our Story

2025 marks 375 years of the Sisters of St. Joseph in the world and 165 years of their love and care in Northwestern Pennsylvania.  Since our founding in 2015, the SSJ Mission & Ministries Foundation has looked to you, our dedicated and first-time donors, to continue their good work. 
Whether education, healthcare, spiritual guidance, justice, peace, care of creation, welcoming of new Americans, and never-ending prayer for the needs of all, we have been moved by the Sisters. Their faith, courage, resourcefulness, and resolve are an inspiration to us all.

Who We Are

The mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Northwestern Pennsylvania, its agregees and associates, is to unite all people with one another and with God by responding to the ever-changing needs of the world and serving the neighbor without distinction.

When you make a gift to the Sisters of St. Joseph or the SSJ Mission & Ministries Foundation, you are more than a donor. You’re our partner in ministry. Together – we bring hope and support to the poor and disenfranchised. We feed the hungry and shelter the homeless. We care for children, women, families and seniors. We help refugees and immigrants adjust to their new home. And we give voice to the voiceless – especially the victims of social injustice
