Tom Ridge Environmental Center Foundation
The mission of the Tom Ridge Environmental Center Foundation is to forge a partnership between the private sector and the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center (TREC) and Presque Isle in order to enhance educational programming, research, and visitor experience at the highest level.
Programs and Services
From 2007 to 2019, we provided over $517,888 in grant money to our environmental partners, 17 - K-12 school districts throughout the region, and the PA DCNR for TREC and Presque Isle. We have provided grants through the IU-5 and school districts throughout the region so that K-12 students have the TREC Experience, a STEAM-focused educational experience. Our focus is education, research, and the visitor experience; researching and teaching about the eco-systems, flora, and fauna of our 3,200 acres of Presque Isle State Park and Lake Erie, one of the five Great Lakes. We are also focused on raising money for the Foundation and PA DCNR for the redesign of TREC exhibits designed for how people learn and interact today and in the future.
