Mission

The mission of the Urban Erie Community Development Corporation (UECDC) is “to accomplish what is greater by increasing the capacity for economic self-sufficiency through cutting edge educational services and training; by empowering youth to build their skills and grow to their potential; and by inspiring the community to take steps towards creating a better future for its people and organizations.”
Population and Demographics
The UECDC serves primarily low-income/economically disadvantaged individuals and New Americans (immigrants and resettled refugees).

Programs and Services

UECDC offers Culturally Responsive Programming including:
• Impact – comprehensive K-12 youth leadership development after-school program
• Walking in Black History, a 5 day Civil Rights Freedom Ride from Erie to Alabama and Georgia
• Adult basic education courses which include GED and ESL classes
• Career counseling and workforce development services
• Family Self-Sufficiency Program in collaboration with the Housing Authority of the City of Erie
• Community food garden and a flood mitigation rain garden
