"I was first introduced to the Erie ClaySpace through my ceramics college professor. He said the studio was looking for someone who could teach a workshop and thought I would be a great candidate. I was so excited for this opportunity and even more delighted when I first walked through the studio doors! I remember an instant feeling of community, creativity, and joy. Since teaching that first workshop, I have become an active member and kiln tech within the studio.

Erie ClaySpace has positively impacted my life by bringing me a feeling of fellowship and shared love for clay that I haven’t felt since being a fine arts major in college. The studio is my “home away from home” and has granted me so many great opportunities: from teaching workshops & community events to newfound friendships, and developing my knowledge as a kiln tech. Erie ClaySpace is a truly welcoming environment and there is something here for everyone!

Not only has the studio positively impacted my life, but is also important to the city of Erie. It provides an accessible creative outlet where all are welcome to explore, decompress, and make connections. Erie ClaySpace is an active member within the community that serves as a pillar of local arts and culture. I believe it is vital to have spaces such as these within the city because it brings people together, improves mental health, and fosters a local identity.

The ceramic arts hold such a special place in my heart and are a huge part of my identity. Erie ClaySpace has graciously taken me in and provided a space to continue on with my creative outlet. Knowing how much this place and this art form mean to me, I’d love your help. Your donation will help others like me discover their community and connect with the arts—which is so important! Join us in continuing to educate, support, and uplift the city of Erie!"
