Cancer affects everyone - the person who has the diagnosis but also their family and friends. It's been over 30 years since my kind and compassionate mom, Kathy Klemm, passed away from colon cancer that spread to her liver. She was only 54 when she received the news and passed away at 56.
I was 31 and lost one of the most important people in my life. We all missed so much because she wasn't with us as more grandchildren were born. What her absence did to my dad was the hardest part of losing her. She was his soulmate.
My dad was the best husband and caregiver. He survived 29 years without her, but he was never the same.
I wish the Erie Cancer Wellness Center existed back then...The programs, great information and positive support would have made a difference for all of us.
As more friends and family face this horrible disease, I want to help the Erie Cancer Wellness Center to be able to offer support to more people for years to come.
