Some individuals and families come to us needing emergency shelter. Others come for legal advocacy, counseling, safety planning, children’s services, transitional housing, community education, professional training, or support as they take the next step toward safety.

This year, SafeNet is also grateful to welcome Poppie, our emotional support cat.

Poppie came to SafeNet through a survivor’s journey and has quickly become a gentle source of comfort for staff, clients, and individuals who come through our doors. As many people have already seen, Poppie is a truly wonderful cat — calm, sweet, and somehow always in the right place when someone needs a little comfort.

His presence is a reminder that healing can happen in many ways. Sometimes it begins with shelter. Sometimes with advocacy. Sometimes with counseling. Sometimes with community support. And sometimes with the quiet comfort of a safe place, a soft paw, and the feeling that you are not alone.
